Work previously funded by the Wegener’s Trust identified T cells as likely key players in the disease process in GPA.  Work is therefore being developed with Dr Susan John who is an expert in this field. Susan’s lab studies T cell receptor and cytokine-induced signalling mechanisms that regulate T cell activation and differentiation in healthy T cells and the dysregulation of these molecular mechanisms in inflammatory diseases with a particular interest in Wegener’s granulomatosis.
